Rifiutare la convinzione che l’interesse per gli strumenti musicali sia appannaggio di pochi, restituire la musica popolare al suo naturale contesto pubblico: queste i principi ispiratori della mostra “Musica fuori dai teatri. Selezione di strumenti musicali popolari e da strada dalla Collezione Spada”.
Nell’allestire lo spazio espositivo, gli strumenti musicali, oltre un centinaio, sono stati suddivisi secondo un criterio funzionale, ossia per luoghi e situazioni tradizionalmente legati al loro utilizzo: le sette sale di Palazzo De Felice sono state così dedicate alla musica da banda, liturgica e rituale, militare, del lavoro, per bambini, meccanica e agli strumenti popolari Italian.

Highlights of the exhibition is to overcome the traditional museological criteria, by virtue of finding a use "subsidiary" of the public. In this sense, a great new feature is the inclusion of a multimedia workstation that contains pictures, descriptions and videos of the instruments on display, where visitors can log on with a touch of the screen. He also can write down their thoughts on a virtual guestbook and can carry the memory of the show, requiring a DVD with the contributions included in the interactive totem.
