avendo verificato la possibilità di impostare hdparam a 128 senza attivare lo spin down dell'hard disk (almeno così dice l'utility Notebook Hardware Control che I was using WinXP on a long time ago), and thereby increasing the possibility of saving energy, I sign here on the blog these values \u200b\u200bin order to monitor the actual evolution of the disk for a while, and then do a comparison as a result of the change. current data are:

DotGNU - Keeping You from Getting Tangled in a Net!
The DotGNU project was started in reaction to Microsoft's .NET strategy, which was born out of a vision for the future of information technology which we do not agree with, namely that "the era of 'open computing,' the free exchange of digital information that has defined the personal computer industry, is ending."That .NET vision statement is so shocking that it is necessary to provide appropriate context, quoted here under "fair use" rights from the New York Times
, July 25, 2002 (Late Edition, Section C, Page 6, Column 3) article
"Microsoft Tries to Explain What Its .Net Plans Are About"
, written by John Markoff: Microsoft sketched out an abbreviated road map today of how it will introduce products that offer .Net capabilities. One example was a communications server program with the code name Greenwich that is intended to enable advanced multimedia conferencing features for desktop and hand-held computer users. Another example was the next version of the company's database product, SQL Server, named Yukon, which is intended to make it easier to manage distributed data.
Finally, a brief demonstration was given of Windows Media Center -- a PC-based television that is intended to bring .Net-style information to the television in the living room.
Mr. Gates indicated, however, that the company's software promised land would be a new version of its Windows operating system with the code name Longhorn, which is still at least two years off. Microsoft also warned today that the era of ''open computing,'' the free exchange of digital information that has defined the personal computer industry, is ending.
The company is trying to influence an industry consortium called the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance, Which Has Been Trying to create a new standard That will build a cryptographic key system into future personal computers.

Gator By Birth Sayings
this guy definitely deserves
The one thing I learned from this, is I am currently locked into Apple stuff. I did not quite Realize it until now though - it never really hit home. For example, if I Moved back to Linux I would have no way of syncing my iPhone. I Also Have an Airport Extreme, and near as I can tell, I can not edit Airport Any of the settings from Linux. Let alone my iTunes purchases. Wow, I am toast.
If you are running intel hardware, you are not likely in this same boat. You can probably Easily use boot camp to dual boot or use VMWare.
My lesson learned here is - is limiting single vendor lock in on your personal maneuverability, no matter how cool the products Seem To Be. If you are hooked into the company starts with putting out stuff you do not like, the Economy Takes a dump and you can not afford Their stuff, or you disagree with something, your options are limited.
Yikes, I am locked into.

What I learned from this story is that when I'm stuck between
Apple devices. [...] For example, if I went back to Linux, so I would not have to sync my iPhone. I also own an Airport Extreme [a kind of wireless router and upgraded designer, I understand ndb] and as ne so, non posso modificare alcuna impostazione dell'Airport da Linux. Non parliamo dei miei acquisti su iTunes. Wow, sono fritto [spero si traduca così n.d.b.]. Apple? not for me ...
il comando in ubuntu è:
sudo apt-get install smartmontools
2) Verificare il numero di cicli già effettuati:
sudo smartctl -d ata --all /dev/sda sudo smartctl-d ata - all / dev / sda dal nome 99-hdd-spin-fix.sh nelle cartelle /etc/acpi/suspend.d/
con il contenuto di:
#!/bin/sh
hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda
Da notare che ho preferito usare 254 anzichè 255 perchè pare che per molti hd il valore di 255 non sia utilizzabile...
Dite che sono esagerato? Forse sì :)
it is spoken by many around the network:

The problem is basically: Can a too aggressive energy savings in a shorter significativa la vita dei nostri hard disk? Per saperlo possiamo effettuare questa procedura.
